Makinwa Takes Club To FIFA

The Former Lazio and Nigerian international, Stephen Ayodele Makinwa (30), who now ply his trade with the chinese club Beijing Baxy, has taken his club to FIFA, the world football governing body for wrongful termination of his contract.

Makinwa signed a two year contract with the club, but said that the club terminated his contract after just one year.

He said that he did not even receive any official letter from the club, except that during the pre-season the club president told him, that there will be new players joining the club. Read also: melvinsports.blogspot.com

''There was nothing official, no option of a mutual termination or an indication of what to expect from our conversation,'' he told BBC.

''So when it was time to return after pre-season in Kunming, Southwest China, Baxy failed to provide me with the necessary documents for my re-entry visa,'' he said.

Makinwa said that he and his lawyers have written to FIFA with proof, that the club was wrong to terminate his contract, without any respect to the terms and conditions of the contract.

''We have already written to FIFA showing proof, that they were wrong and failed to respect the terms and conditions of my contract,'' he said.

''They are still owing me salary, ticket refund, bonuses and I have also asked for compensation with interest,'' he added.

The player said that he could not join another club on time, because Baxy did not do things properly. He was hoping that FIFA will intervene in his case and get him the redress that he deserves.
